The bullet from the 14-year-old’s gun fatally wounded a boy who happened to be passing by
Tragedy in the USA. A 14-year-old girl has been charged with manslaughter in Dallas, United States, after she shot and fatally wounded an 11-year-old, police said.
Officers responded Sunday afternoon to a Dallas apartment complex where shots were reported. Two teenage girls were fighting in a parking lot and “one pulled out a gun and fired in the direction of the girl she was fighting with.” But the bullet fatally wounded a boy who happened to be passing by, police said.
The 14-year-old tried to escape, but was arrested and charged.
Speaking about the 11-year-old’s untimely death, Education Inspector Usama Rogers said: “The death of a student is one of the worst experiences a teacher can have. It is similar to losing one’s child, since we treat the students as our own.”
More than 6,000 minors were killed or injured in gun violence in 2022 in the United States, according to the specialized website Gun Violence Archive.
