“We see all this as open provocative incitement by the West and raising the stakes in the conflict, which will inevitably lead to an increase in casualties and a dangerous escalation,” said Maria Zakharova
The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned of an escalation of the war in Ukraine if the West sends long-range weapons to Ukraine, capable of striking deep into Russian territory.
“We regard all this as open provocative provocation by the West and raising the stakes in the conflict, which will inevitably lead to an increase in casualties and a dangerous escalation,” Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the ministry, said in the statement.
Earlier today, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said any new deliveries of NATO heavy weapons to Kyiv “will not change anything” in terms of achieving Russia’s goals in Ukraine.
However, Germany did not decide today whether to give Leopard to Ukraine after the defense minister argued that there should first be an agreement from the allies in order to give the “green light”.
