NATO: Each country should decide separately whether to give tanks to Ukraine

Earlier today, a meeting of Ukraine’s Western allies at the Ramstein Air Base failed to reach an agreement on the delivery of German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.

Germany and other countries supporting Ukraine in its bid to repel Russian invasion should decide individually whether to supply Kyiv with heavy tanks, the Dutch chairman of NATO’s military council, Admiral Rob Bauer, argued today. .

Earlier today, a meeting of Ukraine’s Western allies at the Ramstein Air Base failed to reach an agreement on the delivery of German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.

However, the Polish Defense Minister appeared optimistic that the countries’ efforts will eventually bear fruit.

“This is a sovereign decision by a sovereign state, such as Germany,” Bauer said at a press conference in Lisbon.

He added that it is equally important to discuss the delivery of other weapons systems requested by Ukraine. “Donating ammunition now costs money but the cost to all of us will be higher if Russia wins the war in Ukraine…

We need to look seriously at what Ukraine is asking for and, if possible, give them what they are asking for,” he continued, adding that this should be done “in time.”

Bauer also told reporters that the war is not going well for Moscow as “none of its strategic objectives have been achieved so far.”
