At least three female journalists were arrested in Iran, in the context of the protest movement caused by the death of Mahsha Amini in September.

“During the last 48 hours, at least three journalists – Messrs. Melika Hashemi, Saideh Sefiei and Mernoush Zarei – have been arrested,” the Journalist Union of Tehran announced.

The reformist newspaper Etemad clarifies that all three were transferred to the notorious Evin prison of Tehran.

Etemad has counted 79 journalists who have been arrested since the beginning of the protest events for four months.

At the end of October, more than 300 Iranians journalists and photojournalists denounced in an open letter the authorities for arresting their colleagues and for depriving them of their rights, mainly for denying access to their lawyers.
