The deputy general prosecutor was also removed from his position

Ukraine’s deputy defense minister, in charge of supplying the military with food and equipment, resigned this morning, citing “media accusations” of corruption that his ministry and he say are unfounded.

Vyacheslav Shapovalov’s resignation was a “worthy act” that will help maintain confidence in the ministry, according to a statement posted on the website of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

Several senior Ukrainian officials announced their resignations today following press revelations about alleged purchases of military supplies at inflated prices, authorities said amid the Russian invasion.

Earlier today, the deputy chief of staff of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Kirylo Tymoshenko, announced his resignation.

Removal of deputy attorney general

The General Prosecutor’s Office also announced today that Deputy General Prosecutor Oleksiy Simonenko was removed from his position as part of a reshuffle of high-ranking officials.

In the announcement issued by the prosecution on his removal, no reason is given for this decision, but it is noted that it was “according to his own wish”.
