In the last twenty-four hours, in Italy the cases of Covid-19 are 54,762 and 144 people have lost their lives. In total, 929,775 diagnostic tests were performed, 5.6% of which were positive.
There are 1,071 patients with Covid-19 in the intensive care units of the country. There are 8,892 in the hospital wards. Across the country, at this stage, more than 500,000 people are positive for the virus. At the same time, 1,500,000 inhabitants of the country are in quarantine, due to contacts with those positive for the new coronavirus.
According to Italian public television Rai, however, the number of coronavirus patients in the ICU is half that of last Christmas.
Vaccines continued throughout the country today, with a significant attendance. “This year we are helping in the vaccination centers, last year we were only fighting in the hospitals,” a young plastic surgeon told Italian television. “This means that the situation has indeed changed,” he added. A total of 3,700,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered in Italy last week.
