The “Kyiv Independent” reported that at least six explosions were heard in Vinnytsia, while emergency power cuts have begun in some parts of Ukraine due to the threat of the attack.
Private power company DTEK announced that “emergency” power cuts began this morning in the Ukrainian capital and three regions, in order “to avoid significant damage to electrical infrastructure if enemy missiles hit their target.”
In addition to the capital, the measure of power outages has been implemented in the Kyiv region, as well as those of Odesa, in southern Ukraine, and Dnipropetrovsk, in the center-east, according to DTEK.
An official of the military administration of the Odesa region stated at the same time that two key energy facilities in the region were damaged by the new Russian strikes.
Overnight, the Ukrainian military said its air defenses had shot down 24 Iranian-made kamikaze drones sent by Russia.
Russia has been targeting critical Ukrainian infrastructure in missile and drone strikes since October, causing major blackouts in the country’s electricity, water and heating supplies.
