Panagiotopoulos: Leave the Armed Forces out of the political confrontation

National Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos called on SYRIZA to leave the Armed Forces out of the political debate, who took to the floor of the plenary session during the discussion of the motion of no confidence. Mr. Panagiotopoulos also spoke about his relations with the leader of GEETHA.

“We put it down, we explained, we agreed and we continue. We continue committed to our work. As much as I state this all the time that I support the military leadership, even more so the military leadership states that it supports me in my work and together we move forward“, said the Minister of National Defense and added:

“We have a big mission, to make the country stand up. In this task, please leave the Armed Forces out of the political fray».

Do you not understand that here each one of us is called to function, at the height of his institutional role, both together and together with the rest of the leadership, political and military, for the common task which is none other than the strengthening of the Armed Forces and so the powerful Greece».

The phrase of the Minister of National Defense about the relations of cooperation and understanding with the head of the Greek Army is typical.

Pre-election controversy in the mud

Mr. Panagiotopoulos attributed the motion of no confidence to the tactic of sharpening and poisoning public life, in the purely pre-election period, with the aim of covering the weaknesses of the official opposition.

“The motion of no confidence of the official opposition is a last-ditch effort to destabilize the government, without calculating the risk, at this time, of the cost of destabilizing the country. Some people here play their change. The comparison of the government’s actions and the work does not benefit the official opposition, now in purely pre-election time. The confrontation must go elsewhere. He must go to the mud, to the absolute poisoning of public life and political confrontation”, said the Minister of National Defense and added that “Kyriakos Mitsotakis, despite the unprecedented difficulties and conditions we are facing, is enduring”.
