Kremlin: Biden – if he wants – can end the war in Ukraine

“The US is instructing Kyiv that they can end the conflict quickly if they wish, but instead they are funneling weapons to Ukraine,” Peskov said.

The Kremlin said today that US President Joe Biden holds the key to ending the conflict in Ukraine by giving instructions to Kyiv, but that Washington has so far shown no willingness to use it.

At the daily press briefing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the US could end the conflict quickly if it wanted to but instead was “flowing weapons into Ukraine”.

Moscow has previously accused Ukraine of taking orders from Washington and says the US is prolonging the conflict by supplying Kyiv with weapons. The US says Moscow launched the war and that the conflict can only end if Russia withdraws its troops.

The Kremlin also rejected a US move to designate the Wagner mercenary group an international criminal organization, saying Washington has been “demonizing” the group for years without any basis.

At the same time, the Kremlin said that the new sanctions imposed on Russia by Japan are not a cause for concern as Russia adjusts to life based on such restrictions. Tokyo said today it was tightening economic sanctions against Russia following the latest wave of deadly missile attacks on Ukraine.
