Boris Johnson has earned over £1 million from extra-parliamentary activities since the start of the current government in December 2019, when he led the Conservative Party to a comfortable election victory.
According to research on the declared accounts of MPs by Sky News and news website Tortoise, the former UK Prime Minister has recorded income of £1,064,785 in the last three yearsin addition to his prime ministerial and now parliamentary salary.
Among other things, Mr Johnson has received £510,000 as an advance on his expected political memoir, £3,000 for an article in the Spectator magazine which he said took just an hour to write and fees ranging from £200,000 to £278,000 for speaking at events organized by businesses and professional associations in Britain, India and Singapore;
He has also stated that he received flowers and chocolates worth £785 as a gift from Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE.
