A gunman stormed the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran today, opening fire and killing the embassy’s security chief at the entrance.
He continued shooting and wounded two more people before he was arrested.

After the attack, the Azeri ministry announced that it was evacuating its embassy in Tehran and that it considered Iran “responsible” for the attack. For his part, the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, declared that the attack was an “act of terrorism” and called for a quick investigation and punishment of the “terrorist”.
