The situation in Bakhmut and Vukhledar is “very difficult,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Fighting continues to be fierce in the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine as well as in the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv as Russian forces launch new heavy attacks against Ukrainian forces. However, in recent days Russian forces appear to have launched a new effort to gain ground around the village of Volendar, 30 miles southwest of the city of Donetsk.

The situation in Bakhmut and Vukhledar is “very difficult,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

In the town of Bahamut, fighting is fierce as the Russians try to seize one of the main highways in order to cut off food supplies to the area. Wagner’s mercenaries also joined the Russian airborne units.

The Russians have also launched heavy attacks in the Luhansk region, with the situation remaining “difficult”, as the regional military command of Luhansk said today Tuesday. Also in Kharkiv, a civilian died in the city of Bovchansk from the shelling, while an elderly woman was injured. The bombings also caused damage to the police station building, apartment buildings and warehouses.

“Russia Prepares for ‘Imminent’ Attack on Ukraine”

At the same time, the American thinktank Institute for the Study of War, citing Western, Ukrainian and Russian sources, reports that Moscow is “preparing for an imminent attack” in the coming months. It also notes that a Ukrainian military chief, Ivan Tymoshko, has said that Russian forces have been reinforced in the Donbass as part of an expected offensive and that Russian forces should launch an offensive because of increasing internal pressure to defeat them.
