Ukraine prosecutes Wagner group ‘boss’ Yevgeny Prigozhin

The General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine brought criminal charges against him Yevgeny Prigozhinhead of the Wagner mercenary group fighting with the Russian side in Ukraine.

Prigozhin is accused for violating the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine (Article 110(3) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and for waging an aggressive war against Ukraine (Article 437(2)).

In a video with stark images released in the new year, Prigozhin – a key Putin ally – was filmed visiting a basement near the eastern front in Ukraine, filled with the bodies of his fighters, many of them convicts, and had been killed during the offensive to capture the city of Bakhmut, a key strategic objective of Russia.
