Russia’s ex-president says supplying Ukraine with more and more technologically advanced weapons systems will only trigger more retaliatory bombing
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that supplying Ukraine with more and more technologically advanced weapons systems will only provoke more retaliatory bombing by Russia under the scope of Russian nuclear doctrine.
“All of Ukraine that remains under Kiev’s control will burn”, according to the words Medvedev used in a written interview with journalist Nadana Fridriksson.
The journalist asked Medvedev (who, as vice-chairman of Russia’s Security Council, has become one of the Russian officials to express the most aggressive war views against the West since the Russian invasion of Ukraine) whether the use of long-range weapons systems action by the Ukrainians is likely to lead Russia to negotiations with Kyiv.
“The result will be exactly the opposite,” Medvedev responded to comments Fridriksson posted on her profile on the instant messaging service Telegram.
“Only some of the crazy ones out there, and there are plenty of them, both in the White House and on Capitol Hill, can claim something like that.”
The US Pentagon announced on Friday that a new missile that would double the range of Ukraine’s bombing range has been included in a $2.175 billion package of US military aid.
