Only foreign travelers who have a negative Covid-19 test and can prove that they have been fully vaccinated or have recovered from the new coronavirus will be able to enter the country, the Interior Ministry announced after a cabinet meeting.
A spokesman for the border authorities confirmed to Agence France-Presse that unvaccinated foreign nationals will not be allowed to enter the country unless they are under the age of 16 or on a list of exceptions (residents of Finland, required workforce, diplomats, etc.). ).
“Regardless of the foreign national’s origin, everyone must show a vaccination certificate and a negative test in less than 48 hours,” Tommy Kivenzouri, a Finnish border guard, told AFP.
Asked if the vaccinated foreigners who will not be included in the exemptions provided by the government will be denied entry to Finland by the authorities, the official replied: “Yes”.
The measure, which came into force at 16.00 Greek time, also applies to citizens of the European Union, while it applies to persons born before 2005, until December 31, then to persons born before 2006.
Health and transportation workers, those with compelling family reasons, or people in need of humanitarian assistance are also among the exceptions.
