Greece, according to what the Turkish Minister of Defense claims, speaking to the Milliyet newspaper, “defense and security is a matter of monitoring and precaution”

Turkey’s Defense Minister Launches New Attack on Greece, the US, F-16s and the Great Idea Hulusi Akar in an interview with Milliyet newspaper.

As SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from Istanbul, Hulusi Akar claims that “the Greece is dreaming, taking actions that will harm the well-being of its own people. They are spending money, , making commitments.. They are further damaging the welfare of the people who are already in a bad situation.. We are talking about a country with a debt of around 500 billion euros. He still seeks alliances, and has a passion for equipment. You are a NATO member country. Why are you chasing other alliances?”

Referring to the US bases in Greece, Hulusi Akar states that “defense and security is a matter of monitoring and precaution. In talks with the Americans they express that they are definitely not against us. We are monitoring this matter closely. We are taking our measures.”

And he went on to say: “Greece accuses us immorally of “neo-Ottomanism, revisionism and expansionist policies”. What is Greece trying to cover up with this? The Big Idea. We, on the other hand, seek dialogue with a prudent understanding of the state, I am ready to welcome the Greek Minister of Defense if he comes tomorrow, I am ready to go if he calls me tomorrow. The elections in Greece are approaching. They see the only solution to Turkish hostility.”

On the F-16s, the Turkish Defense Ministry said: “We expect common sense to prevail, for the United States to assess the issue as a whole and decide and act accordingly. Our friends in parliament are also having conversations in Congress. Our slogan is “Strong Turkey, strong Air Force, strong NATO, strong Alliance”. We also say that the F-16 is not the only option».

Referring to E.E. and the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO, Hulusi Akar emphasizes: “Didn’t they sign the memorandum in Madrid? Word for word, they signed. We just want that signature to stick. As they do not comply with the memorandum, heinous attacks are being made against Turkey, the President of Turkey, a member of NATO for 71 years, and the Holy Quran, the symbol of faith of billions of people. What logic is this, what law is this? They touch our nerves.. What Europe does to us: they are trying to kick us under the table».
