It is noted that the US statement omits any mention of US cooperation with the Syrian government
The White House issued a statement saying President Joe Biden has directed the federal government to prepare US aid for Turkey after the deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake.
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said, “The United States is deeply concerned by reports of today’s devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria. We stand ready to provide whatever assistance is needed. President Biden directed USAID and other federal government partners to assess US response options to help those most affected. We will continue to monitor the situation closely in coordination with the government of Turkey.”
It is noted that the US statement omits any mention of US cooperation directly with the Syrian government. The US currently has a wide range of economic sanctions imposed on Syria and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
