Crete: Rethymnon gathers humanitarian aid for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria

The Municipality of Rethymno has started collecting humanitarian aid for the suffering people of Turkey and Syria, which is actually supporting the earthquake victims.

The residents of Rethymnon can support the effort with: Medical supplies (painkillers, gauze, antiseptics, bandages, anti-inflammatory, saline etc.), bedding, quilts, blankets, tents, sleeping bags, pillows, lenses, clothing (scarves, gloves only , caps, socks), feminine hygiene items, baby and senior diapers, packaged dry food and baby food.

According to the municipal authority: “Human suffering does not discriminate. Solidarity and humanity have no borders. Not even conditions. Rethymno has proven in the past that it possesses empathy and generosity. Now, we are all called, on this tragic occasion, to submit them again».

It is worth noting that so far, on the first day of the implementation of the initiative, the response of fellow citizens is moving. Both at the level of expression of interest through their communication with the services of the Municipality for their information, and through the extent of their offers.

Also, the SYRIZA-PS Agios Nikolaos Members Organization participates in the solidarity campaign.

The offices of the Organization, on Kyprian Agonist 9 in Agios Nikolaos, from February 10th will be open every day from 10 am to 2 pm, to receive the first aid items.

First aid items and money are being collected, in collaboration with the “Solidarity for All” Movement and “Doctors of the World”.
