Qatargate: MEP Andrea Coccolino is in prison in Naples

As reported by the Italian news agency Ansa, Belgian prosecutors underline in their arrest warrant that “from the evidence collected by their country’s secret services, Coccolino, together with Francesco Giorgi and Antonio Panzeri, appears to have received money directly from Mr. Atmoun, the Moroccan ambassador to Poland.”

Italian centre-left MEP Andrea Coccolino was transferred to the Poggioreale prison in Naples this evening.

As reported by the Italian news agency Ansa, Belgian prosecutors underline in their arrest warrant that “from the evidence collected by their country’s secret services, Coccolino, together with Francesco Giorgi and Antonio Panzeri, appears to have received money directly from Mr. Atmoun, the Moroccan ambassador to Poland.”

At the same time, it is reported that “Coccolino had direct contacts with Atmun and on June 1, 2022, during a meeting with him in Warsaw, he received a distinction, a tie and allegedly discussed the line he should follow in the EU- of Morocco in the European Parliament”.
