Yasmin Motartjemi was vindicated by a court in the southern Swiss city of Vaud after a 12-year legal battle
The Nestle company is required to pay a former manager compensation of more than two million euros after she was vindicated by a Swiss court where she had resorted to complaining of bullying (bullying) while working for the company, reports a report in the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper.
Yasmin Motartjemi was vindicated by a court in the city of Vaud, in southern Switzerland, after a 12-year legal battle.
The 67-year-old former head of global food safety claims she felt belittled and disrespected by Nestle employees for years and suffered such psychological trauma that she had to apply for a disability pension when she was 55, the report said.
She began her legal battle against Nestle in 2011 after being fired from the company in 2010.
Her lawyer, Mathilde Bessonet, said the court decision shows the court accepts her client’s claim that her career was destroyed and that her employer bears full responsibility.
As Motartjemi herself explained: “My lawsuit against Nestle was never about money. I wanted a court to recognize the injustice they suffered.”
The decision is final with Nestle deciding not to appeal. The company did not confirm the amount of the compensation. “We sincerely regret the nearly 12 years of litigation and wish to see a definitive end to this legal matter,” a company spokesman said. She even emphasized that Nestle does not tolerate harassment and takes such complaints very seriously.
