Today, December 12, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad thanked the United Arab Emirates for the “enormous humanitarian aid” provided to his country after the devastating earthquake, while receiving the head of the UAE’s diplomacy, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

“The UAE was among the first countries to stand by Syria and send massive humanitarian aid,” Assad said in a statement issued by the presidency, hailing their “quick response, which reflects the depth of bilateral relations.”
