The proposal for a tenth package of sanctions against Russia was announced by the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, speaking at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

“We are weakening Russia’s ability to maintain its war machine,” Ms. von der Leyen said, adding that “with nine sanctions packages in place, the Russian economy is going backwards. And to maintain this strong pressure, we propose a tenth package of measures.

» With new trade bans and technology export controls in Russia. This package has a total value of 11 billion euros. We propose, among other things, export restrictions on electronic components used in Russian weapons systems – such as drones, missiles, helicopters.”

She also pointed out that “there are also hundreds of Iranian drones being used by Russia on the battlefields in Ukraine.”

“For the first time, we are proposing to impose sanctions on Iranian entities, including those linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards,” he added.
