Travel by Manolis Kostides – Desperate citizens expect financial support from the state, living in tents and waiting for the now lifeless bodies of their relatives to be found – The dead in Turkey and Syria exceed 41,000
Life under the rubble Rescue crews continue to search under the rubble despite the fact that ten days have passed since the deadly earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Three women and two children have been pulled alive from the rubble today in Turkey, filled with hope rescuers, however, as the hours pass, hopes of finding survivors fade. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of people who have lost their homes are seeking shelter, with anger at the Turkish government’s delay overflowing.
In Adana, dozens of tents have been set up in the streets hosting people who either no longer have a home, or are afraid to stay in what is left standing. As reported by SKAI correspondent in the main news bulletin, Manolis Kostidisresidents are lining up to get some food while patiently waiting for the economic aid promised by the Erdogan government.
Antioch is a ghost town
Antioch, a city once bustling with life, now looks like a ghost town, vanished from the map. Traveling through the destroyed city, Manolis Kostidis broadcasts the enormous destruction in the area. The shops in its central market which were otherwise full of life and a multitude of people made their purchases every day, are now all destroyed while the streets are full of debris and rubble.
Desperate residents are still waiting for the now lifeless bodies of their relatives to be found. “Three people were in Antiyaman and stayed at home. My two brothers and the daughter-in-law who died” says a resident of the city.
Over 41,000 dead
At the same time, the list of dead in Turkey and Syria is constantly growing. The dead exceed 41,000 in both countries according to the last count. In Turkey at least 35,418 people have lost their lives and in Syria almost 6,000. They also exceed 105,500 injured, of which 13,000 are hospitalized. Hundreds are in critical condition.

In a report, Turkey’s Ministry of Urban Planning said a total of 50,576 buildings had either collapsed or were severely damaged. At the same time, several buildings that are about to collapse must be demolished immediately. The scenarios for the elections are heating up
At the same time, the scenarios for changing the date of the elections are heating up since the anger of the citizens for the government’s oligarchy is constantly heating up. At the moment, the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is keeping a fishy silence about the issue despite the rumors and is trying in every way to reverse the negative climate. On its side, however, the entire opposition demands that there be no change and that the elections be held normally on May 14.
