The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, will visit Germany, Turkey and Greece consecutively on February 16-22. As the announcement of the State Department states, Minister Blinken will be “in Athens where he will meet with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the foreign minister Nikos Dendias and the leader of the opposition, Alexis Tsipras, to discuss defense cooperation, energy security and our shared commitment to defending democracy. Minister Blinken will inaugurate the fourth round of the US-Greece Strategic Dialogue on February 21″.

He will also travel in Germany on February 16 to participate in the Munich Security Conferencewhile on February 19 he will arrive in Turkey to see first-hand the US efforts to help deal with the disasters caused by the earthquakes. The third part of the visit concerns our country, where Mr. Blinken will inaugurate the fourth round of the US-Greece Strategic Dialogue on February 21.

Relatively with the Turkey leg of the visit the release states that “Secretary Blinken will visit Incirlik Air Force Base in Turkey on February 19 to see first-hand U.S. efforts to help Turkish authorities respond to the devastation caused by the February 6 earthquakes. He will then travel to Ankara, where he will meet with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and other senior Turkish officials to discuss continued U.S. support for Turkey and the Turkish people following the devastating earthquakes, as well as ways to further strengthen our partnership. with Turkey, a valuable NATO ally. Minister Blinken will also thank the Government of Turkey for its support of cross-border assistance in the affected areas of Syria.”

Finally, for the German leg of the trip, the announcement states that Mr. Blinken “will participate in a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings to discuss continued support for Ukraine, assistance to Turkey and the Syrian people, and our commitment for transatlantic security and a rules-based international order’.
