The representative of the National Security Council, John Kirby, spoke mainly about what fell into the waters of Lake Huron, Michigan.
The White House today sought to temper expectations regarding efforts to recover the three unidentified flying “objects” that were shot down last weekend.
It is recalled that within a period of nine days, from February 4 to 12, the American armed forces shot down four flying objects, three of them over the USA and one over Canada.
The representative of the National Security Council, John Kirby, spoke mainly about what fell into the waters of Lake Huron, Michigan.
“Because of where it is in Lake Huron, we all have to accept the possibility that we may not be able to retrieve it,” he said.
The spokesman insisted the Chinese balloon shot down in South Carolina posed a “very real” danger to the US. He also explained that Washington has not asked other countries to take action against Chinese high-altitude balloons.
Kirby also reiterated that now is “not the right time” for Foreign Secretary Anthony Blinken to visit China.
