Sister Luthia is famous in Spain and known for her “adoration” for soccer. In fact, the 56-year-old nun from Argentina has created a special relationship with Barcelona and Lionel Messi, from whom she expects to return to the “Blaugrana”.

She has even declared: “If Messi promises you the Champions League, his word is the Gospel.”

Sister Luthia Karam – as her name is – lives in the monastery of Manresa, a city at a distance of about 60 kilometers from Barcelona – she immediately “fell in love” with Barcelona when she went to Catalonia for the first time in 1995.

A well-known author of about twenty books and very active on Social Media through the Tiktofer Show (with 77,000 subscribers and almost 200,000 Twitter followers), sister Luthia met and developed an excellent relationship with Messi during the events organized by the Barça Foundation, with the team’s players visiting various hospitals.

“I’ve known Leo since he was young. When he had a problem with the tax office, but also as soon as he announced that he was leaving the national team, he took me in his arms and thanked me, for my support, on Social Media”, recounts the football-loving nun and adds: “He told me that he was going to to return to the Argentine national team, when no one knew. I remember his words: “I feel deeply Argentinian, my loyalty and relationship with this jersey is stronger than anything else.”

In fact, the… mortal nun is not afraid of infamy when she speaks of her compatriot with such admiration: “Messi plays so perfectly that he… borders on the divine. He has repeatedly participated in the promotion of our program against child poverty. He is very humble and generous.”

When it was announced in August 2021 that Barcelona would not renew Messi’s contract, sister Luthia posted a video on Tiktok, saying: “Messi is not for sale, he is a national heritage.”

“I am convinced that Leo will return,” asserts Sister Luthia, who since the spring has been regularly making round trips between Barcelona and western Ukraine in order to help civilian victims of the war. In the hospitals of Lviv, near the Polish border, he met several seriously injured children.

In fact, he helped catalyze a child to be cured in Catalonia: “When I met him, I gave him a Barça badge and immediately, a tear started to run down his face. It’s amazing how many people dream of this club around the world. I’ve invited the immigrants to the Camp Nou several times, it’s always a magical moment for them.”
