The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged today that those responsible for them will be held accountable more than 42,000 deaths to the catastrophic earthquakes which hit the southern part of the country on February 6.

It is our duty to hold those who have committed wrongdoing accountable and brought to justiceErdogan said in the southern province of Osmaniye.

The Turkish government has faced intense criticism for delayed response to deadly earthquakes and for its urban planning policy, as thousands of apartment buildings collapsed, trapping victims under rubble.

Yesterday the Turkish president announced that they will be built 200,000 apartment buildings on solid soils and based on good practices in eleven provinces that were hit by the devastating earthquake.

According to the latest report released today by the Turkish disaster agency AFAD, the death toll from the earthquakes in Turkey stands at 42,310.
