A young gunman opened fire on a television crew covering the scene of the killings near Orlando, Florida on Wednesday, killing a reporter and wounding a cameraman, authorities said.

The 19-year-old suspect, identified by police as Keith Melvin Moses, was arrested a short time after the shooting. He is also accused of killing a 9-year-old girl and a woman in her 20s and 30s, Orange County Sheriff John Mina said during a news conference.

The crew members were a reporter and cameraman for local cable television station Spectrum News 13, Sheriff Mina said.

The young man, who has a heavy criminal record, will be prosecuted for three murders and two attempted murders, he added.

He allegedly murdered the young woman in a car hours before killing a nine-year-old girl and injuring his mother.

According to Mr. Mina, the motives of none of the attacks are clear. However, Keith Melvin Moses is believed to have known the first victim.

The sheriff emphasized that he cannot yet assess whether and to what extent the television crew targeted the young man because they were reporting on him, nor because they broke into the home of the young victim and her mother.
