Russian anti-aircraft systems repelled the attacks, causing the drones to go off course and miss their targets.
The Russian Defense Ministry has accused Ukraine of launching two drone strikes against civilian infrastructure in two southern provinces of Russia overnight, adding that they failed, while similar complaints were made by the authorities in various regions of the country.
“During the night, Kyiv authorities attempted to use drones to attack civilian infrastructure in the Krasnodar region and the Republic of Antigea,” the ministry said in a statement.
As the same source pointed out, Russian anti-aircraft systems repelled the attacks, causing the drones to go off course and not hit their targets.
“Both drones lost control and went off course. One fell in a field and the other (…) didn’t hit its target”, he added.
Russian news agencies reported this morning that a fire broke out at a refinery in Krasnodar province, shortly after a drone was seen flying over the area.
Earlier this morning, authorities in another Russian province, Bryansk, which borders Ukraine, indicated that a Ukrainian drone had been shot down.
From this incident “there were no casualties or damage”, Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of Bryansk, wrote on Telegram.
In addition, the wreckage of three drones was found during the night on the streets of Belgorod, the capital of the province of the same name that also borders Ukraine, as stated by regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
Finally, a drone was shot down today in the Moscow region, which is believed to have aimed to hit civilian infrastructure, said its governor Andrei Vorobyov.
The drone was shot down near a natural gas distribution station in the city of Kolomna, located 110 kilometers southeast of the Russian capital, the RIA Novosti news agency reported, citing local emergency services.
Vorobyov pointed out that there was no damage to infrastructure, but no casualties.
