At least three people were killed and six others injured in an overnight blast at an apartment building in Zaporizhia, southern Ukraine, local authorities said today.
In a statement, Ukrainian police said a Russian missile, “which, according to initial information, was fired from an S300 array” destroyed more than 10 apartments in that building “where people were sleeping peacefully.”
“During the search operations, six injured were pulled from the ruins, as well as three dead”, according to the same source.
In images released by the Ukrainian rescue services, residents can be seen moving away from the rubble, with the help of firefighters.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke of the actions of a “terrorist state that wants to turn our every day into a day of terror.”
“But evil will not rule our land. We will expel all the invaders and they will be held accountable for everything,” he added on Telegram.
The strike is reminiscent of the mid-January Russian bombing of an apartment building in Dnipro, a large city in central-eastern Ukraine, which killed 46 people.
