THE US President Joe Biden will meet on March 10 in Washington with its president European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, to discuss issues related to energy, supply chains, China and the EU’s weaning of Russian fossil fuels, the White House announced.

According to the statement, the two leaders will discuss Western support for Ukraine, the stakes of climate change and how they might respond to “the challenges posed by China.” It will be discussed, among other things, “coordinating the US with the EU to address the climate crisis through investment in clean technologies that will be based on secure supply chains.”

The new Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of the Biden administration, which includes huge subsidies for products made in the US and which is aimed, according to Washington, at tackling the climate crisis and promoting renewable energy sources, has caused rage in Europe.
