Iranian justice condemned six men to death accused of being part of a “terrorist organization” that carried out attacks from 2017 to 2019 in southwestern Iran.

According to what the Iranian justice Mizan news agency reported today, “six members of the Harakat al-Nidal terrorist organization were sentenced to death” by the Ahvaz court after being found guilty of “armed operations in Khuzestan province.”

The group is accused of killing four people, including a soldier and two members of the Basij Islamic Volunteer Corps, in attacks it carried out between March 2017 and March 2019, according to the same source. The convicts “followed the orders of their European leaders, such as Habib Nabgan and Habibullah (Habib) Saab.”

The latter is an Iranian-Swedish dissident who disappeared in October 2020 during his visit to Turkey and is being held in Iran. He is accused of being the leader of an Arab separatist organization and was put on trial in 2022 for “terrorism” and spreading “corruption on Earth”.

His organization is also accused of “collaborating with other terrorist organizations” in an attack on the occasion of a military ceremony in Ahvaz, the largest city of Khuzestan, which in September 2018 claimed the lives of 25 people, while 249 were injured.

Iran executes more convicts than any other country except China, according to human rights groups, notably Amnesty International.
