Russia today launched a new wave of airstrikes against Ukraine, resulting in the death of at least nine people and yes the power supply is interrupted in many areas, including nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia.

The Ukrainian military announced that Russia launched 81 missiles and eight drones and mainly targeted the country’s energy facilities. At the same time, Moscow also used six hypersonic Kinzhal missiles, which cannot be intercepted by the Ukrainian air defense. However, at least 34 missiles and four Shahed drones were intercepted.

“It was a big attack and for the first time with so many different types of missiles (…) The enemy launched six Kinzhals,” said Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ikhnat. “It was unprecedented.”

Attacks took place in various regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Odessa, Kharkiv and Lviv.

In the western province of Lviv five people were killed, while one more died in Dnipropetrovsk in southeastern Ukraine.

Three people were killed in the city of Khersonthe head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Andriy Yermak, said in a Telegram post.

“Russian terrorists bombed Kherson again this morning, hitting a public transport stop,” Yermak said, adding that “three people were killed.”

In the Ukrainian capital, at least two people were injured, according to the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, who noted that 40 percent of Kyiv has no heating.

“Extraordinary power outages do not allow to ensure heating for 40% of Kyiv’s consumers,” local authorities explained on Telegram.

In Kharkiv, in eastern Ukraine, electricity, water and heating have been cut again, according to mayor Igor Terekhov.

“There is no electricity in the whole city anymore,” he said on television. “There is no heating and water supply due to the absence of voltage in the electrical network,” he added.

Kharkiv governor Oleh Sinekhubov pointed out that the city was hit by about 15 S-300 ballistic missiles, which also cannot be intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses.

“The enemy launched about 15 strikes against the city and the countryside,” he said on the Telegram. “Infrastructure was again among the targets.”

For its part, the Ukrainian company Energoatom announced that the Zaporizhia nuclear power plantwhich is under the control of Russian troops in southern Ukraine, lost its connection to the Ukrainian electricity system.

According to the company, the nuclear plant’s fifth and sixth reactors have been shut down, while 18 diesel-powered generators have been activated to ensure the plant’s basic operation.

Russian-appointed officials in the Moscow-held region of Zaporizhia province said the blackout at the nuclear plant was a “provocation”.

However, the chief of staff of the Ukrainian president, Andriy Yermak, wrote on Telegram: “Terrorists are doing everything they can to leave us without electricity (…) They continue to terrorize the peaceful people.”
