The Kremlin announced today that he doubts that the attacks on natural gas pipelines Nord Stream 1 and 2 in September they were committed without the support of any state.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made these statements after the publication of the American newspaper New York Timesaccording to which information reviewed by US officials indicates that a pro-Ukrainian group is responsible for the attacks on the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

There is no evidence that the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky or his top associates are involved in this case even if the perpetrators were acting on the orders of Ukrainian government officials, the newspaper adds, citing US officials.

“As far as the Ukrainian approach is concerned, you know, it’s hard to believe the idea that some Dr. Evil organized (the attack). It was a difficult task for which only a well-organized special, state agency would be capable. And there are too many of them in our world,” added Peskov.

Russia has repeatedly asked to join investigations into the explosions that ruptured three of the four Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines in the Baltic.

Researchers from Sweden, Denmark and Germany are currently conducting separate investigations.

“We continue to demand a quick and transparent investigation, we continue to demand that we be allowed to participate in this investigation,” the Kremlin spokesman underlined.

“It is necessary to identify who executed and who ordered (the attack). Committing a terrorist attack against a piece of critical international energy infrastructure sets a very dangerous precedent,” added Peskov.

At the same time, he rejected the “absurd hypothesis” that Russia itself is responsible for the attack against its infrastructure.
