“It is true that both our countries share the same, or some similar goals. We have made efforts for the welfare of our respective countries… we can cooperate and work together to achieve our goals”Xi Jinping said and added: “I am very happy to be able to visit Russia again, following your invitation. And that Russia is the first country I visited after being re-elected as President of China” underlined.
Xi also expressed confidence in Putin’s re-election in the next election.
“I know the presidential election in Russia is next year. Russia’s development has greatly improved under your steady leadership. I believe that the Russian people will continue to strongly support you“, he said.
Also, Xi Jinping said that his country “highly values” China-Russia ties and that both countries can work together to fulfill their development goals.

For his part, the Russian president, in his statements in the Kremlin, welcomed Beijing’s proposal to end the “acute crisis” in Ukraine and emphasized that he sees the plan with respect.
“You know we are always ready to negotiate and we will discuss all these questions, including your proposals” he said characteristically, adding that Russia is “slightly jealous” of China’s rapid growth in recent decades.
