The head of European diplomacy speaks of a “historic decision”. Joseph Borelregarding the agreement reached today by EU countries to allocate a total of €2 billion for the purchase of ammunition, both to Ukraine and to replenish the stockpiles of EU countries.

With a message on Twitter, Josep Borrell says: “Based on my proposal, the member states have agreed to deliver 1 million rounds of ammunition within the next 12 months.”

He also notes that the plan envisages a three-level approach: First, one billion euros for immediate delivery to Ukraine, second, one billion for joint procurement and third, reinforcement of the production capacity of the defense industry by the European Commission.
