Seven people died and fifteen others were injured yesterday Monday due to an explosion at an illegal fireworks factory in the state of Morelos, in the central Mexico.

“The explosion took place inside a residence where illegal fireworks were manufactured and stored,” Morelos’ civil protection explained in a press release.

“During the first research findings, seven people are dead and another 15 injured“, according to the same source.

The accident happened in the town of Totolapan, about 80 kilometers from the capital.

The state government expressed its “deep sorrow over the loss of human life in Totolapan” via social networking sites.

Accidents are frequent in fireworks industries in Mexico, especially those that operate illegally and are not few.

In December 2016, explosions at a fireworks market in Tultepec, Mexico state (center), killed 42 people and injured dozens more.
