The Israeli air force launched an early morning raid on the international airport of Aleppo in Syria, causing some “material damage” to the facility, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced.

Earlier, Syrian state television reported that strong explosions were heard in the Aleppo region.

This is the second time airstrikes have been launched against the airport this month and the third in the last six months. The previous raid took place in the early hours of March 7.

Israeli warplanes “launched a number of missiles” as they flew over “the Mediterranean Sea, west of Lattakia at 03:55”, according to the Syrian Defense Ministry.

The two previous raids resulted in the facility being shut down for several days.

Through this airport, the second largest in Syria, international humanitarian aid arrives in Aleppo, which was hit hard by the devastating earthquake centered on southern Turkey on February 6, which left tens of thousands dead in both countries.
