The North Korean state agency announced on Wednesday (5) that it had carried out a test launch of a hypersonic missile. According to KCNA information, the object successfully hit its target.
The launch had been detected and reported hours earlier by Japanese and Korean authorities – who, along with the United States, were critical of Kim Jong-Un’s regime.
This is the first such military activity carried out by North Korea since at least October of last year.
In the previous month, the country had already allegedly tested a hypersonic missile, entering an arms race with other powers with the technology – notably China and Russia, which have also carried out recent tests.
KCNA said in Wednesday’s test the missile traveled 700 km and hit its target, showing good flight control.
