The two deputy ministers called on their supporters to demonstrate in Jerusalem in favor of the judicial review
He tries to add fuel to the fire Israel’s controversial finance minister, Bezalel Smotrichas well as Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Ben Gvir who called on their supporters to demonstrate in Jerusalem in favor of judicial review, announcing that he would join the demonstrations himself.
“Friends! Under no circumstances should the reforms to fix the judicial system and strengthen Israel’s democracy be stopped,” the far-right finance minister said in a video message.
“Do not give in to violence, anarchy, objections and wild strikes. We are the majority – let’s make our voices heard. I’ll be there – come too. We will not let them steal our voice and our country,” he added.
Israel’s far-right National Security Minister tweeted: “State of emergency! We are headed to Jerusalem! The right wing camp will come out for support in Jerusalem,” he points out in his post and adds: “We cannot give up the nation’s choice! Bring a flag and join in.”
Right now, tens of thousands are demonstrating in the Knesset against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s controversial justice reform plan. The parks and streets surrounding the Knesset are filled with people singing, playing drums and waving the Israeli flag.
A sea of white and blue (+ handful of Palestinian and LGBTQ+ flags) at what is shaping up as the apex of Israel’s biggest ever protest movement. Hebrew media reports Bibi told US officials he will suspend the judicial overhaul. Still no ETA on his address delayed from this AM pic.twitter.com/ovUUtMHXnF
