The aftermath of the attack on the Capitol, a year later; listen to podcast

by

On January 6, 2021, protesters inspired by former President Donald Trump invaded the United States Congress and tried to prevent the confirmation of the victory of Democrat Joe Biden in the presidential election.

They ransacked the Capitol, attacked police and invaded the two legislative houses, as well as parliamentarians’ offices. The invasion ended with five people dead and 150 security personnel injured.

The attack exposed the division of American society and the radicalization of sectors of the right – in addition to having left a warning about the risks to the country’s democracy that reverberates to this day.

This Thursday’s Café da Manhã (5) interviews the editor of Mundo da leaf, Daigo Oliva, on the aftermath of the attack, the progress of investigations and the political implications of the case a year later.

The audio program is published on Spotify, partner streaming service of leaf in the initiative and who specializes in music, podcast and video. You can listen to the episode by clicking below. To access the application just register for free.
