The lawyer for “QAnon Shaman,” the man who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, announced his release soon.

Jacob Chansley (QAnon Shaman), 35, pleaded guilty in September 2021 to civil disorder and forcible entry into the Capitol, among other charges, and was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison.

“It is the right decision to allow this kind and intelligent young man to proceed to the next stage and be released. He will undoubtedly be a law-abiding citizen,” said his attorney, Albert S. Watkins.

“I welcome the decision of the US Bureau of Prisons in this regard,” The Bureau of Prison records confirmed that Chansley is in custody at the Residential Reentry Management office in Phoenix, with his release date set for May 25.

It was unclear what led to Chansley’s early release, and Watkins declined to comment on the finding, saying, “This was a decision by the US Bureau of Prisons. I can’t speak for the US Bureau of Prisons.”

Federal guidelines allow for reduced sentences due to good behavior, but under those guidelines Chansley would have had to serve at least 35 months and 22 days of his 41-month sentence.

Instead, he was transferred after serving just 27 months in prison, including time served before his conviction.
