Police earlier confirmed that one person had been shot at a community college in North Carolina, with students claiming it was a “self-inflicted gunshot.”

Officers said he was taken to the hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries” after a two-hour standoff at Forsyth Tech.

There were reports of gunfire at the Strickland Center, with many students and staff remaining in place until the building was slowly “cleared.”

A student revealed that their classmate was “playing with a gun” and accidentally shot his arm.

Police rushed to the college after reports of “shots fired” which sent terrified students hiding under desks.

“We can confirm that there is no active shooter on Forsyth Tech’s campus. There is still an active investigation on campus, but there are no other threats to other schools in the area.”

Police have closed several roads around the campus as a precaution.
