They were not satisfied with the proposal for a rise of £1,000 for this year and 4.5% for next year

The overwhelming majority of teachers in England who are members of the largest union in the field, the National Education Union (NEU), voted in favor of new strikes.
Almost 98% of those who voted, more than 190,000 teachers, rejected the government’s offer of pay rises of £1,000 this year and 4.5% next year.
They described the supply as insufficient, amid inflation exceeding 10%, while also calling for teacher vacancies to be filled in England’s schools.
The NEU added that in order for schools to cope with the additional costs of punctuality with such a high wage offer, almost half in the country would have to cut teaching staff.
The dates for which the next strikes are planned are April 27th and May 2nd. There have already been strikes in February and March.
Addressing Education Secretary Gillian Keegan, NEU general secretary Dr Mary Boustedt said further strikes could be averted if a new offer was put forward “fully funded, equal to increases in other sectors, able to tackle the crisis in schools”.
