A storm of reactions was caused by the decision of the deputy minister of the French government to be photographed for the French edition of Playboy magazine.

It’s about her Marlene Ciappa the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, who was photographed for the well-known magazine. In her interview, she compares herself to Pamela Anderson and believes that posing for Playboy is an act of emancipation.

The photoshoot has caused a wave of reactions, with her accusing her critics of being backward.

In fact, the editor of the French edition of Playboy stated that the choice of the deputy minister fully matches the profile of the magazine, because she deals with women’s rights.

“The defense of women’s right to control their bodies is everywhere and forever. In France, women are free. With all due respect to the slanderers and hypocrites #Playboy.”, Siapa responds to the criticism in her post on twitter.

Siapa, who has been on the government council since 2017, appeared on the magazine’s cover accompanying a 12-page interview she gave about women’s rights and the LGBT community. She has been a long-time advocate for women’s rights and was the first Minister for Gender Equality in 2017.

Her appearance on the cover of Playboy provoked reactions among her colleagues, including the French Prime Minister, Elizabeth Bourne. She called out Siapa, noting that “it was not appropriate, especially during this time,” according to CNN.

It is noted that France is experiencing an intense political-social crisis with the promotion of the controversial pension reform by President Macron.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, for his part, criticized both Siapa’s appearance in the magazine and Macron’s own interview with the children’s magazine, Pif Gadget.

“In a country where the president expresses himself in Pif and his minister in Playboy, the problem would be the opposition. France is derailing,” Melenchon tweeted on Saturday.
