For some of its residents Washingtona bastion of Democrats with strong anti-Trump sentiment, today is a holiday: to celebrate the Republican former president’s appearance in a New York court, the bar of the federal capital organize special evenings and specials cocktail.

The Midlands Beer Garden offers its customers beer and mezcal for $5 – a pittance in this very expensive city. Its owners posted a photo montage on Instagram showing Donald Trump dressed in the prisoners’ orange uniform.

The 76-year-old real estate mogul is accused of buying the silence of porn star Stormy Daniels during the election campaign, paying her $130,000 not to talk about their 2006 sexual encounter. He denies having any relationship with her.

The Union Pub, on the Capitol grounds, will tonight serve a “Witch Hunt Special,” in the favorite phrase of Trump, who insists his prosecution is “politically motivated.” On the menu, there is still the “Stormy Manhattan” (named after Daniels) but its price is “stingy”, since it costs “13(0,000) dollars”. Not to be missed is Tacopina Tuesday (named after Trump’s lawyer Joe Tacopina): two tacos for $7, five tacos for $15.

Fight Club advertises “the best happy hour you’ve ever seen,” with a sketch of Trump crying behind prison bars. For $10, customers can enjoy a “Dark N’Stormy Daniels,” a “Sad Boys Tea,” or an “IndictMINT Julep” (a pun on the words “indictment” and “mint.”

Washington, a city where politics dominates everyday life and bars broadcast live election debates, is adapting quickly. A few years ago, a bar renamed its “Moscow Mule” cocktails the “Moscow Mueller,” after the special counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
