The Russian Foreign Minister is in Ankara since yesterday Sergey Lavrov and met earlier today with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu. The subject of their talks was the situation in Ukraine, but also Syria.

In their joint statements, Mevlut Cavusoglu said, among other things, that Russia was one of the countries that quickly provided aid after the earthquake and added: “We sincerely thank Russia for all this support and solidarity. We discussed regional issues. Ukraine was a major issue. We stated that the war must be ended by negotiations as soon as possible and reiterated that as Turkey we are ready to support as best as possible. Today we also discussed the grain aisle. We attach importance to the continuation of the agreement. This global crisis is particularly important in reducing the problem that every household in the world is facing.

We also discussed other regional issues, particularly Syria. We know that the issues cannot be resolved in one or two meetings, but it would be beneficial to continue the talks.”
