Israel said today it shot down a drone that entered its territory from Lebanon, amid the unprecedented escalation on the Israel-Lebanon front since 2006.

In short noticethe Israeli military says its soldiers “spotted and shot down a drone that entered Israeli territory from Lebanese territory near the Zarit site.”

The army “will continue to prevent any attempt to violate Israeli sovereignty,” the statement said.

This incident comes after the Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon.

Israel’s military said it struck three Palestinian Hamas “infrastructures” in the Rashidiya area before dawn today, responding to more than 30 rockets fired from Lebanon into Israel on Thursday, injuring one person and causing property damage.

The Israeli military said the rockets fired, for which there was no claim of responsibility, were “Palestinian” and possibly from Hamas or Islamic Jihad or another armed group.

The military also targeted Hamas infrastructure in the Gaza Strip where the Islamist movement rules the Palestinian enclave, amid a resurgence of violence between Israelis and Palestinians in Jerusalem during the Jewish, Christian and Muslim holiday season.
