On his release from prison Mark Tarabella, and his detention under the electronic bracelet regime is being carried out by the Belgian authorities according to the Sudinfo website.

As reported by Sudinfo, Brussels prisons decided on Tuesday to allow Marc Tarabella to be released as long as he remains confined to his home wearing an electronic bracelet, federal prosecutor’s spokesman Antoon Schotsaert told Belga.

As a result, the former MEP, also accused of involvement in the Qatargate scandal, will be able to be released from prison and will return to his residence within the next few days.

It is recalled that earlier today, the pre-trial council of Brussels decided, the Italian former MEP, Pier Antonio Panzeri, to be released from prison with an electronic bracelet, according to the Belgian Le Soir.

Pancheri, who has been described as the “mastermind” of Qatargate, has been in prison since December 9 and will be released with an electronic bracelet in the next few hours or days.

Francesco Giorgi is also out of prison but with an electronic bracelet, while Eva Kaili remains in prison.

It is recalled that the Belgian authorities discovered more than 600,000 euros in cash in Pancheri’s apartment. He then struck a deal with authorities in order to receive a reduced sentence for the charges against him.
