The representative of the Eastern Command of the Ukrainian Forces, Serhii Tserevaty, called the claims of the founder of the Russian mercenary organization Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, that Russian forces control more than 80% of Bakhmut’s territory untrue.

In an interview with CNN, Tserevati commented on Prigozhin’s recent statements about the situation in Bakhmut. Wagner’s founder stated that “in Bahamut a large part of it, over 80%, is under our control, including all administrative centers, factories, factories, city administration” (as reported by the TASS news agency).

“This statement by Prigozhin does not correspond to reality”Tserevati told CNN. “I just got in touch with the commander of one of the brigades defending the city. I can state with certainty that the Ukrainian Defense Forces control a much larger percentage of Bakhmut.”

Tserevati did not specify what percentage of the city’s territory Pirgozin owns.

“Prigozin needs to show at least some victory to the city, which they have been trying to capture for nine straight months, that’s why he makes such statements” a spokesman for the Ukrainian military said.
